I never wrote a review before but I’m writing this because this was the worst experience. I booked the apartment from June 11-12, 2022. We went to Boston to celebrate one of my siblings graduation. We checked in around 9pm on the 11th. The temp in the apartment was 90. We tried to turn on the AC and left to get some food and go for a walk. We came back around midnight and the temp was the same. We turned on the small extra fan in the apartment and were so tired so showered and went to sleep. An hour later, we woke up in sweats. Throughout the night, we couldn’t sleep. I called but no success. Around 10am, I called again. Left a voicemail, and sent a message shortly after. I also left a message on Airbnb. Throughout the day of the 12th, I followed up with the host and the host said they’ll contact the “building emergency contact” and will fix the AC. The person never came. Mid night of the 12-13th, I called Airbnb support and was on the phone for 48 mins. Airbnb support staff said they’ll connect with the host to address the issue and asked to send them photos of temp and the communication I’ve had with the host. I did. Both nights we had to leave the windows open, had to turn on the small extra fan, and had to keep the entrance door of the apartment open to circulate the air. The temp dropped from 90 to 85. Long story short, this was the most miserable stay. We didn’t get an answer from the host or the Airbnb. A day later, I followed up with Airbnb to ask them of their communications with the host. Airbnb said they can’t refund or do anything because the host said they sent a person to fix the AC. The AC technician never came as the host claimed. Airbnb trusted the host’s word over mine despite my sharing of the photos and communication with the host. Airbnb said they’ll refund me $30 for 2 miserable and sweaty nights. I was in Boston to celebrate, not to dread going back to the apartment because of the heat. Long story short, I do not recommend this apartment to anyone. No one should suffer and everyone deserves to enjoy their stay away from home. If you can, don’t punish yourself by choosing to stay here.
This property is functional and clean and is fine in a pinch. As other reviews have stated, you are in an old building that seems mostly student occupied and not well taken care of. Price to value is low.
Great location for seeing the downtown. The place itself was not very well-cleaned and some of the furniture has seen better days. Most frighteningly, there was an open door to some kind of maintenance column in the building which our 2-year-old could have walked right into and fallen down (8 floors). Overall, it served it's purpose for our vacation.
