First, I admit I did receive a check-in e-mail, and I did not scroll all the way down before check in. I used my confirmation e-mail to direct me to the unit. Well, 42 Boylston doesn’t exist. The listing & confirmation indicated “self check-in with a keypad”. Took me a while to figure out that you needed to go to another building to get a physical key, (only one key provided) to gain entrance to correct building. Finally got into our unit, which was advertised for six guests. I have to say it was the most poorly furnished Airbnb unit I’ve ever stayed in. Only three chairs to sit in for eating. Five mismatched water/ juice glasses and no cereal bowls. We had to remove two 1.5 inch wads of hair from the tub to get it to drain. Dresser drawer fronts in both bedrooms were broken and the bathroom light fixture in the guest bathroom had bare bulbs. The advertised “dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair” – does not exist! While I never felt unsafe in the building, it was very poorly maintained with trash in the elevator and the halls always needed vacuuming. The laundry facilities located in the building basement were less than desirable. All that said, this is a great location. One block in each direction to two subway lines and the Boston Common, but you can do much better than this unit.
The location is alright- depending on where you wanna visit in Boston. Not the greatest if driving in- its a very hectic area. Check-in was smooth, but upon arrival, for an apartment managed by a company the place itself was subpar. Electricity did not work in one of the rooms (although fixed the next day). I personally wouldn’t come here again for the amount of money spent. But if you will be in this area of Boston, not driving, it is convenient.
I stayed in 2 of the apartments over the course of my vacation. I loved it. I felt like I was right in the heart of it all in Boston. Would absolutely stay here again.
